Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) posted a job for Treasury Product Manager on LinkedIn overseeing the firm’s Ripple Project. The job, which the firm is no longer accepting applications for, is described as:

This role leads the product management team for the Ripple Project, a decentralized ledger technology based solution to cross border payments marketed to GTS clients. The incumbent will be responsible for driving product strategy and growth, overseeing daily product management routines, and overseeing the development of new initiatives that result in an innovative and highly-competitive product offering.

A report from CoinDesk indicates that Bank of America is hiring several blockchain-related jobs, including the aforementioned Ripple position. This comes in addition to the 78 blockchain patents the bank has filed or won.

The Charlotte, N.C.-based bank has six positions open that mention blockchain: one for a treasury product manager, three for enterprise payment technology senior architects and two for banking regulatory domain architects.  Each job description either calls for experience with blockchain tech or the ability to apply it in a banking context.

IBM (NYSE:IBM) has introduced a new integrated supply chain suite, embedded with Watson AI and IBM Blockchain. Called the IBM Sterling Supply Chain Suite, the suite is powered by enterprise open-source solutions provider Red Hat, which IBM recently acquired. According to the press release, the suite “enables organizations to integrate their own data and networks – and the data and networks of their suppliers and customers,” allowing “enterprises to update and tailor their supply-chain solutions to meet their unique business needs”. Bob Lord, Senior Vice President, Cognitive Applications and Developer Ecosystems, IBM, commented:

"Supply chains are now mission-critical systems for all businesses to drive success and profitability. Many organizations have risen to the top of their industries by building efficient and agile supply chains. By modernizing supply chains on top of open, hybrid-cloud platforms and infusing Watson AI, IBM Blockchain and IoT into their networks, the IBM Sterling Supply Chain Suite can help companies across all industries enter a new era of global competitiveness.''

CCN reports that Bakkt, the Bitcoin (BTC) futures exchange and digital assets platform owned by Intercontinental Exchange (NYSE:ICE), has seen an 800 percent increase in its trading volume. The exchange saw dismal action on Tuesday, when it only exchanged about 25 BTC, but that was followed by a 9x increase on Wednesday resulting in an all-time high of 224 Bitcoin contracts exchanged.

French firm Keplerk has tweeted that some 5,200 tobacconists in France have resumed the sale of Bitcoin. The fintech and crypto company began selling Bitcoin in tobacco shops in January 2019, but pulled out a couple months later.
