Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) posted a job for
Treasury Product Manager on LinkedIn overseeing the
firm’s Ripple Project. The job, which the firm is no longer accepting
applications for, is described as:
This role leads the product management team for the
Ripple Project, a decentralized ledger technology based solution to cross
border payments marketed to GTS clients. The incumbent will be responsible for
driving product strategy and growth, overseeing daily product management
routines, and overseeing the development of new initiatives that result in an
innovative and highly-competitive product offering.
A report from CoinDesk indicates that
Bank of America is hiring several blockchain-related jobs, including the
aforementioned Ripple position. This comes in addition to the 78 blockchain
patents the bank has filed or won.
The Charlotte, N.C.-based bank has six positions open
that mention blockchain: one for a treasury product manager, three for
enterprise payment technology senior architects and two for banking regulatory
domain architects. Each job description
either calls for experience with blockchain tech or the ability to apply it in
a banking context.
IBM (NYSE:IBM) has introduced a new integrated
supply chain suite, embedded with Watson AI and IBM Blockchain. Called the IBM
Sterling Supply Chain Suite, the suite is powered by enterprise open-source
solutions provider Red Hat, which IBM recently acquired. According to the press
release, the suite “enables organizations to integrate their own data and
networks – and the data and networks of their suppliers and customers,”
allowing “enterprises to update and tailor their supply-chain solutions to meet
their unique business needs”. Bob Lord, Senior Vice President, Cognitive
Applications and Developer Ecosystems, IBM, commented:
"Supply chains are now mission-critical systems
for all businesses to drive success and profitability. Many organizations have
risen to the top of their industries by building efficient and agile supply
chains. By modernizing supply chains on top of open, hybrid-cloud platforms and

CCN reports that
Bakkt, the Bitcoin (BTC) futures exchange
and digital assets platform owned by Intercontinental Exchange (NYSE:ICE), has seen an 800
percent increase in its trading volume. The exchange saw dismal action on
Tuesday, when it only exchanged about 25 BTC, but that was followed by a 9x
increase on Wednesday resulting in an all-time high of 224 Bitcoin contracts
exchanged.
French firm Keplerk
has tweeted that some 5,200
tobacconists in France have resumed the sale of Bitcoin. The fintech and crypto
company began
selling
Bitcoin in tobacco shops in January 2019, but pulled out a couple months later.
