HIVE Blockchain Technologies Ltd. (TSXV:HIVE) has received confirmation for an additional guaranteed 10 MW of green energy electricity for its GPU data centre in Sweden, increasing the capacity of the facility by over 50 percent from 21 MW to 33 MW. The company’s Chairman, Frank Holmes, also commented on the Bitcoin Mining Council meeting with Michael Saylor and Elon Musk:

 

"The meeting was productive and the bottom line is we agreed to establish a Bitcoin Mining Council to promote education, transparency on sources of energy and accountability for sustainable mining. Further this new organization will strive to standardize energy reporting and set a high bar for ESG standards of care. We believe there is a major macro shift happening and crypto mining is shifting to North America and Europe where executives are more serious and responsible about lowering their carbon footprint. I was proud that not only were we the first public crypto mining company in 2017 but that we have always had an ESG strategy and a focus on only mining with green energy. Finally I was pleased to see other CEO's agree to our goals and would like to thank Michael Saylor for his stewardship and Elon Musk for his ideas and candor."

 

Hut 8 Mining Corp. (TSX:HUT) has formed a hosting partnership with TAAL Distributed Information Technologies Inc. (CSE:TAAL) wherein it will “provide physical hosting and optimization services and access to competitive electrical power for 960 newly-purchased digital hashing computers owned by TAAL.” The CEO of Hut 8, Jaime Leverton, said:

 

"Strengthening our existing hosting services line of business with strategic partners is a growth focus for the Company as we continue to see more institutional players expand their investments in digital asset mining. We strive to offer our partners a best-in-class North American-based option for their hosting needs."

 

Ebang International Holdings Inc. (NasdaqGS:EBON) today issued a statement on the changes to the regulatory landscape in China and how it pertains to the company. With regard to its mining business, Ebang stressed that it “only considered overseas mining farms, therefore the recent crackdown on bitcoin mining within China has no direct or immediate impact on the company.” Regarding its Mining machine custody business, Ebang stated: “We will activate our mining machine custody business as soon as our overseas mining farms finish construction.”

 

Bitfarms Ltd. (TSXV:BITF) has reported that it “has mined and deposited, in custody, 1,006 Bitcoin, currently valued at approximately US$39 million, or approximately 5.5% of the Company’s market capitalization as of the close of trading yesterday, May 27, 2021.” CEO Emiliano Grodzki commented:

 

“Since inception, we have worked at building a world-class and vertically-integrated mining company achieving high levels of efficiency. This year Bitfarms is experiencing our fastest rate of growth ever. We expect to more than double our installed hydropower infrastructure in Québec, triple our operational hashrate in 2021 and be trading on both the TSX Venture Exchange and Nasdaq soon.”
