Stocks discussed: (KSE:005930) (XETRA:DB1)

In an update to yesterday’s news about the Samsung (KSE:005930) Galaxy S10, a writer for CoinDesk reviewed the new smartphone’s crypto features. According to the piece, the phone features capabilities for “payments to merchants, digital signatures and crypto storage and transfers”. These features are collected in an app called Blockchain Keystore and can securely sign and store cryptocurrency transactions. From the article:

Intriguingly, the Blockchain Keystore also provides hints about the possibility of connection to Samsung’s payments platform Samsung Pay in the future. The terms and conditions explain that Samsung’s Payments Service Group is responsible for inquiries about Blockchain Keystore payments.

The Bangkok Post reports that Thailand’s National Legislative Assembly (NLA) has approved an amendment to the country’s Securities and Exchange Act which could allow blockchain securities and futures trading. Upon this, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will issue relevant rules facilitating securities depository licensing.

The Block reports that derivatives exchange Eurex, operated by German bank Deutsche Boerse (XETRA:DB1), is preparing to launch a series of futures contracts tied to digital assets. Citing people familiar with the exchange’s plans, the piece claims that Eurex “will announce its plans to launch futures tied to bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH), and XRP imminently”.

Cointelegraph reports that Malta-based crypto exchange OKEx, the third largest in the world by daily trading volume, has listed XRP and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) on its customer-to-customer (C2C) platform. This development allows users to trade the newly added cryptos with five different supported fiat currencies: British pound (GBP), Chinese renminbi (CNY), Vietnamese dong (VND), Russian ruble (RUB) and the Thai baht (THB).

Malta Today reports that the island nation, sometimes called Blockchain Island, will be storing education certificates on the blockchain. Yesterday the Maltese government entered a two-year contract with blockchain company Learning Machine which will see all education certificates being issued on blockchain. This will include secondary school certificates issued by State, church and independent schools.
