“Whereas
most technologies tend to automate workers on the periphery doing menial tasks,
blockchains automate away the center. Instead of putting the taxi driver out of
a job, blockchain puts Uber out of a job and lets the taxi drivers work with
the customer directly.” —Vitalik Buterin, co-founder Ethereum and Bitcoin
Magazine
Blockchain,
summed up is the technology the sustains digital currency (Bitcoin, Dogecoin, Ethereum, etc.). This technology
authorizes digital information to be distributed, but not duplicated. That
means each one piece of data can only have one keeper; though the information
stays public and decentralized it I s highly difficult to hack since the files
exist in millions of places at the same time. It is called blockchain since a
block represents a record of new transactions. When such block is completed,
it’s added to the chain. Bitcoin owners have a complex key to an address on the
chain, which is where their ownership is recorded. You do not need
verification, or a middle man to make a transaction, like a bank for example.
There
is a certainty that blockchain will stay and influence every industry that
wants to benefit from a decentralized and secure data/information flow. Thus, a
new panorama awaits business and corporate asset manipulation, if it isn’t
already in the works.

Tokenization
“Blockchain
security tokens” are a new form of liquidizing real-world assets, them being commodity
(like money) assets, or intangible
assets (such as brands, concepts that can be given economic value. These
tokens can be stored inside a blockchain network.
While
the concept of tokenization is not new, its application has evolved after the
advent of tokenization and blockchain; making it easier to trade and exchange
liquidized real-world assets. Tokenized cases include agriculture, real estate
and conventional products such as venture capital or bonds.
Among the benefits an investor will obtain out of tokenization are that real-world assets previously difficult to trade due to their low liquidity can now be traded. Hard assets such as real estate now show the capacity of becoming much more valuable if tokenized; attracting more investors through fractal ownership.
An investor can own a fraction or percentage of a real-world asset and repackage it with traditional bonds to sell in crypto marketplaces. Processes that required middle men and administrative expenses, are now subject only to self-authorization of smart contracts, improving the speed of negotiations.
Let’s
take a shot at real estate for example. You own a property and you want to
tokenize it, the property has a market value of $600,000. This value has to be
converted to cryptocurrency, or tokens. Let’s say that 1 token= $60. That means
each token now represents 0,01% shares of your asset.
However,
to tokenize such property you will first have to conduct an audit . Once the
asset is evaluated, tokens are available to investors . If anyone wants to
diversify their investment portfolio, they will consider purchasing your tokens
on a blockchain network.
Alll
kinds of assets can be transmuted into the blockchain: real estate, stock,
gold, agriculture, including even fine art. The main objective lied in
tokenizing very expensive assets that very few can own. You can be a merchant,
or a trader looking to diversify your portfolio, the risk is now minimum, and
exaggerating a little bit, you could now own a piece of the Mona Lisa.
