Blockchain tech firm Blockstream and payments giant Square, Inc. (NYSE:SQ) have announced a collaboration to build an open-source, solar-powered Bitcoin (BTC) mining facility at one of the former’s mining sites in the United States. Described as “a proof-of-concept for a 100% renewable energy Bitcoin mine at scale,” the facility will receive a $5 million investment from Square, and “infrastructure and expertise to build and manage the project,” from Blockstream. An excerpt from the press release reads:

 

Together, we plan to provide public transparency by sharing the project economics and knowledge we’ve gained from building a Bitcoin mine powered by renewable energy. Ultimately, we hope to demonstrate how bitcoin mining in conjunction with renewable energy can help drive the clean energy transition.

 

MicroStrategy Incorporated (NasdaqGS:MSTR) plans to offer a $400 million aggregate principal amount of senior secured notes in a private offering to qualified institutional buyers. The company intends to use the net proceeds from the sale of the notes to acquire additional bitcoins. The company also announced a newly formed subsidiary called MacroStrategy LLC, which will hold its existing approximately 92,079 bitcoins.

Blockchain-based business solutions company Blockchain Foundry Inc. (CSE:BCFN) has launched an accelerator program and a new corporate website. The accelerator program aims to help entrepreneurs “realize their start-up vision in the blockchain space.” As for its newly-launched website, it includes “new areas of development such as enterprise products and blockchain protocol research and innovations,” as well as “information and an application process for prospective accelerator partners.” Dan Wasyluk, CEO of Blockchain Foundry, explained:

 

“We are excited to launch BCF’s new corporate website. Our business has expanded from its original focus on consulting work, and our new website reflects this growth. We are also pleased to offer entrepreneurs an easy way to apply for our accelerator program through our website and we are excited for it to become an important source of early-stage opportunities for BCF.”

 

Crypto, blockchain and digital asset tech company Net Savings Link, Inc. (OTC:NSAV) has signed a Binding Letter of Intent (LOI) to acquire a 40 percent stake in a Hong Kong based Virtual Asset Management company. According to the press release, Net Savings Link intends “to achieve $2 billion or greater of Virtual Assets Under Management ("AUM") in the next two to three years,” and become a leader in the blockchain financial arena.
